Stylish County Donegal Holiday Home constructed in only 10 weeks featuring Castle Lighting

Have you ever dreamed of building your own holiday home? We catch up with Hannah Johnston, Sales and Marketing Manager for the KES Group who manufactured and installed a luxurious new holiday home for one lucky family in only 10 weeks.

The modern holiday home which is situated in North Donegal is an impressive 1,200 square feet in size and consists of three bedrooms – one with an ensuite, a main bathroom and a stylish open plan kitchen with living and dining room to keep the family entertained.

The Brief:

Hannah explained the client design brief from the outset was focused around contemporary open plan living with easy to maintain spaces that take full advantage of the impressive seaside views. The client also wanted the layout to feel sociable so that their family and friends could comfortably holiday with them.

The Build:

KES Group who specialise in modular construction manufactured the bespoke holiday home in their production facility in Strabane, County Tyrone. The build took only 10 weeks to complete under their project managed service.

Hannah explained: “All of our modular projects are fully fitted with electrics, plumbing, heating and internal finishes before they leave our factory. The modules are then transported to site, ready to be craned into position for final fixing.” She continued: “we looked after everything on this project from the civil works right down to the bedlinen in each of the three bedrooms. The client then arrived on handover day ready to move in to their new holiday home”.

The Kitchen

The kitchen was manufactured by DE Design in Lifford Co.Donegal who are renowned for their designs and build quality. The modern open plan kitchen features a roof light that has two window openings and lets the natural light flood into the kitchen space to give it a bright, airy feeling. The kitchen features shaker style doors with chrome handles and is complimented with a stunning Carrara quartz worktop.

The kitchen is highly practical with white splashback tiles, while the ovens are at eye-level height and placed next to a large american style fridge freezer, all of which was supplied by DAC in Omagh, County Tyrone. To add an extra touch of style the plugs and switches have chrome finishes. You can recreate the look with these two way wall switches priced at £8 each and socket outlets priced at £12 each, all available at Barrett Electrical.

The vocal point of the kitchen is the anthracite grey island which also has a Carrara quartz worktop and houses the kitchen sink beautifully with modern feature taps. At the front of the island DE Design have tastefully manufactured a bench which maximises the space by giving the kitchen and dining area their own defined space.

Castle Lighting supplied the two large clear glass pendants which hang over the dining table. These pendants work effortlessly with the kitchen design and help give it an extra touch of contemporary styling. Finished in chrome the pendants are dimmable to allow the holiday home to be filled with ambience as evening falls in.

You can recreate the look with these Modern Single Light Ceiling Pendant, Chrome Finish with Clear Glass priced at only £102 each.

Lighting

Hannah explained that they used not only feature pendant lights above the dining table but they also installed hanging bedside pendants at either side of the master bed.

You can recreate the look with these Giant LED Spiral Filament Smoked Bulbs priced at only £60 each. The kids rooms also had integrated colourful LED built into the bunk beds. The rest of the building consisted of LED spotlights.

Outdoor Space

The stylish holiday home took full advantage of it’s idyllic waterfront setting by having a large welcoming deck area which leads to the front door and an extended deck that allows for outdoor seating. This extended deck has glass panelled walls to let the view be the full focus.

In conjunction with Castle Lighting the designers have sympathetically installed up and down wall lighters around the building exterior which look minimalist by day yet flood the exterior with a stunning layer of light by evening.

You can recreate this look with these Light Grey Modern Up and Down Exterior Lights priced at £53 each.

Top Interior Design Tip

Hannah’s top top would be to keep walls and finishes neutral when designing an interior scheme “Stick with a neutral palette and bring your chosen pops of colour through your accessories. This way, you’ll never have to rush to redecorate and can keep mixing and matching with new interior trends.”
