A chandelier is a decorative ceiling-mounted light feature, often with multiple arms or branches, designed to add elegance and visual impact to spaces like living rooms, dining areas, and grand entrances. Chandeliers are available in classic, modern, and crystal designs to suit various interiors.

To select the correct chandelier size, measure the room’s length and width in feet, add them together, and convert the sum to inches—this gives a suitable chandelier diameter in inches. For example, a room 12ft x 15ft would suit a 27-inch diameter chandelier. For tables, the chandelier’s width should be about half to three-quarters the width of the table to avoid overpowering the space.

A chandelier should hang so the bottom is about 2.1 to 2.5 metres (7 to 8 feet) from the floor in main living spaces. When hanging over a dining table, a drop of 70–100 cm above the table is ideal, ensuring ample clearance and a balanced look. Adding the chain and ceiling cup height is important when determining the overall drop.
